Virgin Atlantic launches 2nd daily flight from London to Mumbai

The British airline Virgin Atlantic Sunday launched its second daily direct service from London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM).

This expansion doubles the airline’s capacity on this highly sought-after route, responding to the growing demand for premium travel between the two major cities. With this new service, Virgin Atlantic now operates five daily flights to India, covering Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. The airline plans to offer nearly 1 million seats in India by 2025.

“India presents a tremendous opportunity for us, thanks to its dynamic and rapidly growing economy,” said Shivani Singh Deo, Country Manager for Virgin Atlantic, adding, “Mumbai is an essential market for Virgin Atlantic, and we’ve witnessed significant demand for premium travel experiences on this route.”

The new service is operated by Virgin Atlantic’s modern Airbus A350-1000, which has three cabin classes: Upper Class, Premium, and Economy. A350-1000 will also facilitate the transport of goods for industries such as fashion, pharmaceuticals, and technology.

A spokesperson for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport said, “This expansion not only meets the rising demand for seamless travel but also speaks volumes of the airport’s stature as a premier global aviation hub.”

Virgin Atlantic will celebrate 25 years of operations in the region next year.
