Janmashtami weekend ahead, flight bookings, fares see an uptick | Business News

The Janmashtami weekend has led to a surge in domestic flight ticket prices. With August 26 falling on a Monday, many are planning for a long weekend.
According to Cleartrip, average domestic flight fares have risen by 16.3 per cent compared to last year. Among the top destinations with increased air bookings, Kolkata leads with a 70.1 per cent rise, followed by Hyderabad at 57.6 per cent, and Bangalore at 55.4 per cent.

Bookings are up 16.5 per cent compared to the same advance-booking period last year. For a typical August weekend, there’s been a significant 21.4 per cent increase compared to other weekends.
Hotel bookings to popular holiday destinations and religious sites like Lonavala and Varanasi surged over the long weekend. However, prices for these destinations dropped, with Varanasi fares decreasing by 29.5 per cent and Lonavala by 22.5 per cent.
